Supportive Services
Case Management
Sojourner House has a full-time Case Manager. The Case Manager provides case management to the families of Sojourner House. The Program Manager works closely with the families and makes referrals to community resources based on the needs of each family.
Housing Search
Once a family moves into the shelter, their extensive search for affordable permanent housing begins. Each family begins to work on establishing credit, securing employment, money management, references and various documents required for housing. A Housing Worker assigned from Metropolitan Housing Boston (MHB) meets with each family onsite weekly and works in conjunction with the Program Manager to secure permanent housing.
Stabilization
When a family moves out of the shelter to permanent housing they are provided Stabilization Services. The Program Manager continues to work with the family for one year ensuring that the family has a seamless transition into their new home and community. Monthly check-ins and home visits are conducted by the Program Manager.
Onsite Therapy
Boston Healthcare for the Homeless provides onsite therapy by a licensed clinician and a nurse meets with each family twice a month.
Parenting Classes
The Family Nurturing Center of Dorchester provides onsite parenting classes. The classes are held weekly in the evening and child care is provided.
Community Outings
St. Gerard Marjella Church of Canton provides monthly family outings. Families are invited to attend bowling, ice skating, and holiday events.
